So this outdoor furniture search came from my vision for the final touches of my garden landscape redesign. They say necessity is the mother of invention, and lemme tell you, when you demo almost everything in your garden and start from a near blank slate, shade is a necessity. Especially since it hit 90 F in Napa earlier this week.

These charming cabinets/bookcases all have a distinct French farmhouse look that works well in a modern or vintage interior. They would look beautiful in a warm, modern, minimalist room like the setting for the Restoration Hardware cabinet, or of course they would also look at home with a traditional farmhouse or transitional style interior.

The most interesting design element of these cabinets or bookcases is that all 3 incorporate Cremone style hardware.

This chic collection of modernist black and brass/gold/metallic side tables add sleek style without breaking the bank or taking up too much real estate in your room.

When I first spotted this chair on Pinterest, I swooned! It was love at first Modernist sight!

This is a reintroduction of the famed "Cherner Chair" designed by Norman Cherner for Plycraft in1958.

It is still considered a remarkable design for utilizing the technology of molding plywood and is featured in the Frank Gehry designed Vitra Design Museum in Germany.

The Perigold Brownstone Palmer Canopy Bed is made of grained teak with a sand-blasted, driftwood finish. The bed feet are finished with antiqued brass feet-caps. (I’m a big fan of antiqued brass.) It’s available in either Driftwood or Mink.

The Wayfair Birch Lane Heritage Canopy Bed is made of pinewood with a weathered charcoal finish along with metal bracket details.

The Bellacor Julien table has both surface and base finish options. At 38” wide, this table is 8” wider than the 30” World Market Milan table.

The World Market table has 3 supports rather than 4, which I think, does provide a different look.

These are a versatile style of table that would look at home in a variety of decor settings from antique to modern. I also think they are an enduring style that you won’t grow tired of in a few years.

I admit I have a weakness for stone topped furniture. It’s heavier than wood, but a stone top is generally more durable when it comes to withstanding food smears and sticky drink rings - whether the juice-box variety or adult beverages. (What can I say, I have three boys.)

Also, a neutral marble top like this doesn’t compete with other wood colors. I have a mid-century limestone topped coffee table in my living room that I’ll never part with, and I’ve always appreciated how it doesn’t add one more wood tone to the room.
