for GARDEN LOVERS & HOMEOWNERS
“I rarely comment on blogs, but I thought it is just not fair that you have no “thank yous” here for such great informative content. This is exactly what I have been looking for.
Also, I wanted to complement you on the sleek and uncluttered design of your site. It’s just pleasant to be here.”
Garden Design Mood Board & Planning
I undertook a major landscape redesign project last spring of the side garden of my home. Now that it’s grown in some, I want to show you how it turned out, which I’ll do soon. Today, I want to show you my garden “mood board.” It’s not a mood board in the traditional sense, but a collection of imagery from Pinterest that helped me pull together design ideas before starting actual design work.
5 Best Houseplants For Beginners
There are lots of opinions on the best indoor plants for beginners and the green-thumb challenged, but even so, there are certain plants that repeatedly make the lists. What one person considers an easy-going plant will be influenced in part by our home-growing environments, but also on individual plant preferences.
I’m the first to admit I have my own set of plant preferences and prejudices, and while a couple of the contenders on this list are the usual suspects, a couple are more often overlooked but are every bit as easy in my opinion. Take a look and give them a try if they’re new to you, and if not, let me know what you think.
Black and White Bathroom Mood Board
Today I’m bringing you a mood board renovation project that's been top of mind for a long time. I decided a while back that this bath would be in some version of black and white. Black and white bathrooms kept popping up on my Pinterest mood boards. I thought I wanted color, but the Pinterest boards don’t lie, and I realized black and white is a trifecta of stimulating, restful, and timeless.
How To Waterproof Your Plant Pots [5 Minute DIY]
Have you ever lifted one of your house plant pots or saucers to find a water ring on your furniture? It’s happened way too many times, so I came up with a simple DIY to moisture-proof the bottoms of my pots. This 5 minute DIY will keep your furniture safe plus it will repurpose a material that otherwise usually ends up in a land fill (styrofoam) so it’s a win-win! Check it out + a video demo.
Travertine Furniture & Accessories - 80s Trend Reinvented
Travertine furniture and décor have been trending hard recently. The creamy, neutral color and organic texture of travertine and similar natural stone (travertine is a type of limestone) feed our desire for creating a warm, cozy, and nature-based home atmosphere. This travertine trend has it's design origins in 1980s and late mid-century design, and it's popularity is likely fueled by the warm minimalism movement. In fact, travertine is one of the top home décor trends according to Etsy. This creamy, textured stone is the embodiment of neutral warmth and nostalgia. I for one, couldn’t be happier. I love natural stone - furniture, décor, flooring - all of it. The heavier the better, am I right?
